Two Voice Poem: From Yesterday to Today

When high school starts…

When high school ends…

It’s all about the fun, the party and the friends.

It’s all about work, graduating

… Moving on.

When it’s over, it’s FINALLY over

It went by fast, being “fresh meat”, seems like it was yesterday

And this is all just the beginning.

And this is all just the beginning.

Stay up all night

My friends are calling

Stay up all night

Sophia is crying

Tip-toeing around

Trying not to make a sound

Tip-toeing around

The floorboards creek

Trying not to make a sound

Sneaking through the door like a snake

The floorboards creek

The babies awake

Changing clothes don’t know what to wear

Changing diapers, not an extra to spare

Pretty perfumes, perfect hair pieces

Piles of poopy, positively potent

Fleeing with friends at the end of the day

Trying to find somewhere to play

Racing home to take care of baby

A friend calls, I’m telling them maybe

Where are your friends when you need them the most?

Where are your friends when you need them the most?

Talking about you like you aren’t going to hear

Now you have responsibilities and they disappear

You find out who your friends are…

You find out who your friends are…

I guess the friendship didn’t go far…

I guess the friendship didn’t go far…

Next week and its whatever

Still lying, you’re “under the weather”

I’ll be quiet, I’ll act like a lady

Its fine because now I’ve got my beautiful baby

You don’t wanna hear what I have to say

And I don’t wanna waste my words anyway

You don’t wanna hear what I have to say

And I don’t wanna waste my words anyway

Turn off the lights, before I start the next day

Time to go to sleep, time to slip away

Turn off the lights, before I start the next day

From all the craziness that goes on everyday

Time to go to sleep time to slip away

From all...
