My Dream Company

When a consultant is trying to find a firm to work for, there are 3 companies that typically come into mind. These companies are the Top 3 Consulting Firms, which include Bain & Company, McKinsey & Company, and Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Basically on the exterior part they all appear to be the same and pretty much equivalent on benefits perspective. Philosophy and employees of the firms that make them all different. Through exploration, I have determined that Boston Consulting Group offers the best prospects for my future. There are different aspects of BCG that attracted me. They ranged from the diverse segments of the company to the way that they treat their employees.

“BCG is a Global Management Consultancy and world’s leading advisor on business strategy” (The Boston Consulting Group, 2013).BCG may be one of the smaller strategy firms in number, with around 4,600 employees when compared to its challengers McKinsey (17,000) and Bain (5,400), but it casts a long shadow(Consulting Firm Rankings 2013: Vault Consulting 50, 2012). Among the consulting elite, BCG measures itself against McKinsey and Bain whereas a number of other top consulting firms measure themselves against BCG. Although the work itself is pure consulting, the preferred flavor at BCG is strategy and cutting-edge analysis. Business strategy of BCG is “All competitors who persist over time must maintain a unique advantage by differentiation over all others. Managing that differentiation is the essence of long-term business strategy.”(Carl & Michael, 2006).

On the Job:

Any under graduate with relevant experience in management or business analysis will be posted as Associate and the one with MBA or Law Degree or PhD will enter as Consultant.
