Most girls dream of their “Mr. Right”, fantasize about their beautiful weddings, and

imagine their perfect live. They dream that “Mr. Right” will come and sweep them off of their

feet. Nowhere in their fantasy of a perfect husband and perfect marriage do they imagine poor

communication, marital drift, financial problems, infidelity, depression, unresolved conflict, spousal abuse, or divorce. This is exactly what is going on in many marriages today with almost half of all first marriages ending in divorce. “The marriage breakup rate in America for first marriage is 41% to 50%.” (Divorce Statistics and Divorce Rate in the USA, 2012). The numbers increase significantly with second and third marriages. Having a happy marriage without regret is possible. There are important factors that each marriage must have such as: a sense of history from someone’s past, good communication, forgiveness, realistic expectations, ability to resolve conflict, and most importantly Christ at the center of every life and every marriage. Every marriage needs constant work. No marriage is ever perfect alone. “Adam and Eve had a perfect relationship…for a while. But even in Paradise things went wrong. Evil lurked. Satan tempted. Eve bit the apple. Adam caved in. Soon they were blaming each other.” (Clinton & Sibcy, 2006) Having a perfect marriage may not be possible, but having a without regret is possible if couples are able to recognize potential problems in a marriage and rectify them.

Marriage was created and instituted by God. Marriage calls for one man and one woman to leave their homes and unite together as one. “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24 NIV When God created Adam; He knew Adam needed a partner, He knew it was not good for man to be alone. “The Lord said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.
