DC-40 is a solid upright vacuum cleaner made by the company Dyson. However, it features a ball at the base of the vacuum cleaner that swivels to both help move the vacuum cleaner with ease and to guide the motor-powered brush bar in front of it. The shape has been developed by James Dyson’s using his background in engineering as every detail of the vacuum cleaner has an industrialized and mechanical look. However, the detail in this product is aesthetically pleasing as it both looks and the quality of the product. Nevertheless, this doesn’t look like an ordinary vacuum cleaner it looks very advanced as James Dyson has been very creative with this product as he has made it look like NASA’s rockets. James Dyson has also used the colours very well in this product. He has done this to show how important each section of the vacuum is. For example, the colour that stands out is yellow therefore; this tells us this is the most important part of the vacuum.

Function

The ball allows the brush of the vacuum to move with ease across the floor and helps to move the vacuum with comfort by the user. The root cyclone technology forces both the dust and the dirt into the bin under high suction. The dirt is then collected in a clear sack (bin), after being filtered by the HEPA lifetime filter.
