Organizational Focus and Goals

Hired as an outside consultant it is a priority to help Sam’s Club strengthen their employee development. Sam’s club has over 40 million members within their organizations in the United Sates, and Puerto Rico. With this large customer base Sam’s Club brings in a yearly revenue of over 56 billion dollars. There are 621 clubs combined in the United States and Puerto Rico which means Sam’s Club is leaving a large footprint on the environment. With these large factors it is important for Sam’s Club employee development to be high for advancement of the organization.

In 2013, Sam’s Club’s President/CEO, Rosalind G. Brewer came up with a growth strategy focus aimed toward new innovations, technology, and an expanded footprint all while maintaining sustainability to the environment. This focus allows Sam’s Club to have growth in the number of open clubs, and allows the customer base more shopping flexibility when they desire, while remaining responsible on behalf of being a corporate citizen. The overarching goals of Sam’s Club are to have 100 percent of energy renewably supplied, have zero waste products, help small businesses grow and prosper, create more jobs while maintaining previous employees, speed growth of new clubs, and have products that are sustaining the environment as well as club members.

To determine the exact training needs of Sam’s Club a needs assessment should be conducted. Identifying the training needs for Sam’s Club will ensure that all employees/management have the correct level of knowledge to properly understand the products that Sam’s Club is developing/distributing, and serve customers in a timely manner.
