Facebook: The New Game of Dating

Facebook has changed the dating world for the worst. Now it is possible to meet potential relationship candidates, get into a relationship, sustain a relationship, and then end a relationship all on Facebook, without having to even leave your computer. It seems like a great idea, right? It’s not if you’re looking for disappointment, drama, and heartbreak. Facebook has changed the game for singles in the way we meet people, how potential candidates can portray themselves and how you can portray yourself in a bad light to other people. This social network has made things difficult for couples that are trying to thrive in the cyber world, because it causes significant others to snoop, which then creates jealousy. Facebook also makes ending a relationship more difficult than it already is and revenge on an ex much easier and efficient. Overall Facebook is just plain bad for all relationship statuses, that includes “Single,” “In a Relationship,” and “It’s Complicated.”

I am going to primarily focus on three things in my paper. The first will be how single people now have Facebook to meet potential partners, how potential candidates can portray themselves and how you can portray yourself in a bad light to other people. Dating is something that almost everyone deals with and the new trend to seems to lean towards finding potential flames on Facebook. To prove my point here I will need to find out how many profiles have misleading information on them and how your Facebook can seem negative to others.

Secondly, I am going to focus on how Facebook makes things difficult for couples that are trying to thrive in the cyber world, because it causes significant others to snoop, which then creates jealousy.
