Africa worlds are sky and earth in the beginning there were two gods who created everything together. Olorun the god who possessed the most power and the greatest knowledge lived in the sky and Olokun the goddess ruled the endless waters and wild marshes. Olorun gave permission to a young god Obatala to create kingdom for Olokun to rule with mountains and all kinds of creatures and plants could live on that solid land. Obatala knew how to create land but he need help, so he asked Orunmila, the oldest son of Olorun, for help to begin his project. Orunmila also possessed superior knowledge and he understood the secrets of existence, including fate and the future. Orunmila told Obatala a chain of gold long enough to reach from the sky above to the waters below is needed to being. Then fill a snail’s shell with sand and place that shell, a white hen, a black cat, and a palm nut in a bag and carry them with you as you climb down the chain to the wild marshland. As Obatale was building the land he missed the miss the brightness of the sky which led to Olorun to create the sun. Fatigue hit Obatale so he decide to take a break while drinking some wine he realize he was lonely. He found some clay and shaped some figures not realizing it but the wine made him drunk, and figures he created were no longer perfect he asked Olorun the give the figures life. When the effects of the wine wore off he saw the imperfections he had fashioned while he was drunk, he vowed to be the protector of all those who are born deformed.
