Thesis Statement

Every day data is collected and stored in databases and data warehouses. As you may think it is a lot of data and finding the information needed can become a tedious and time consuming process. That is when data mining and KDD comes in play to help improve the time and quality of the information obtained in the searches.

Abstract

Today’s world runs on information, more specifically electronic information with easy and fast access. Those are the guidelines for all the next generation businesses. Database systems have become very popular and the amount of data stored daily keeps increasing. The problem has become how we get the information needed to make decisions that will affect the business in a timely manner with accurate data.

Data mining and KDD have become very popular in this field to retrieve information from large databases that will help in different business applications that range from decision making systems, diagnosis systems, marketing and more. Developing a data mining scheme for a company is an important project that has to take in consideration many key factors in order to efficiently implement the system.
