The three dimensions of business problems are people, organization, and technology. In the organization dimension of a business problem there can be a breakdown in the hierarchy of the business process which is logically related tasks and behaviors for how work is accomplished. In the technology dimension of a business problem there can be outdated software and insufficient hardware which would cause a breakdown in the process of fulfilling orders or requests. In the people dimension of a business problem can be caused by lack of training on new software or hardware. Poor management of individuals and departments can also cause a breakdown in getting orders filled and processed on time. The moral of the employees could also cause a breakdown in the people dimension of a business problem.

Information Technology (IT) is all the hardware and software that is needed by a company to complete the objectives that are set forth by the company. This would be something like the computers and software used by employees. Information System (IS) is a set of interrelated components that are used to collect, process, store, and distribute information.

An IS contains information that is inputted by a user or customer that the company accesses to determine if more products need to be ordered to restock the shelves of a supermarket. Or the information can be accessed by managers to identify problems that may exist with certain products within the company. If a customer were to order something off the internet, the data gathered would be put into an IS so that it can be later accessed by employees of the company to determine what orders need to be fulfilled.
