Discuss the four (4) components of a legally astute social media marketing manager who utilizes social media outlets for consumer transactions and how each component can mitigate the risk involved in doing business in cyberspace.

There are four components of a legally astute manager; they include “having a set of value-laden attitudes about the importance of law to the firm’s success, taking a proactive approach toward legal issues and regulations, the ability to exercise informed judgment when faced with decisions involving legal implications, and having context-specific knowledge of the law and the appropriate use of legal tools” (Bagley, 2013). It is imperative for a social media marketing manager to be knowledgeable with these attributes due to the concept of social media in comparison to other possibilities of marketing such as radio, newspapers/magazines, and television.

A social media marketing manager must recognize the current laws which could affect his company regarding taxation, customer discretion, interstate commerce, and data removal. The manager needs to be responsible in comprehending and following different regulations involving his specific industry. The accountability will be considered by using a hands-on approach in directing research, working with the business' legal department, and practicing this conduct for employees and clients. Social media reflects itself in a continuous stream of material, comments, and interaction from customers; therefore, a manager must understand how to respond and make proper use of this information in a positive method while obeying the legal and ethical principles. It is essential that a manager recognize how customer response can be managed and shared without risking confidentiality. Managers also need to know how to acquire
