Reagan Revolution through President Obama

In the span of 30 years between the Reagan administration and Obama administration so many things have happened in America.

The first historical event that comes directly to my mind is the horrifying events that occurred on September 11, 2001. I will have go off-base for a second because of its’ direct meaning to me during that time. My grandmother passed away on September 1, 2001. I was on active duty in the Navy and station at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. I was there approximately 25 days before I got the phone call that she had passed away. I flew home shortly after I got the news. Her funeral had passed and I was still on emergency leave. The morning of 9/11 I had woke up downstairs in my mother’s house along with my girlfriend (now wife) and turned on the TV to watch the news, which is my daily routine. When I saw the first plane crash into the towers, I had honestly though that it was commercial for life insurance. It just didn’t seem like it was really serious to me at all. Then I saw the bottom of the TV and it had said that this was ABC morning news. I then proceeded to wake my mom and my wife up and have them come down the stairs. At that time we saw the second plane crash into the towers. We were all in total disbelief that something like this was actually happening. People were running and screaming. You saw folks covered in blood and soot from the towers collapsing. It seemed like a scene right out of War of The Worlds. I can remember getting a phone call from my Chief asking me to return to Hawaii the next day. I can remember my response to him like this happened yesterday. My response to him was simple. I told him, “Chief, there is no way that you are getting me to travel 11 hours on a plane the very next day after two planes had crashed into the towers in New York and another had crashed into the Pentagon.” He then...
