Apollo and Daphne is well-known Roman Mhyt all over the world. We can also see this myth in Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Book 1. The story is about unanswered love of Apollo for the Daphne. Generally nymphs like Daphne eventually fall in love with gods. However this story ends in a very different way. That’s why people love about this story and also that’s the reason why I wrote about this myth.

Myth starts with a fight between Apollo and Python. As we know Apollo is a god of light and poetry, and Python is ugly creature who looks like a dragon. In the end of the fight between these two Apollo won, and after that he come across with Cupid who shots people with his arrow and make them fall in love. Interestingly these two gods both use bow and arrow as a gun. So when they met they start to insult each other with generally based on who is the best bow user in the world. In this quarrel Apollo become more dominant because killing Python gives him a great ego boost so he won the argument. But as I said these gods are all about their ego and selfishness so at the end Cupid become very angry and as a result of this anger he shots Apollo with a golden arrow which makes him fall in love, then Cupid take another shoot at Daphne but this time he uses leaden arrow, and this arrow makes her to hate Apollo. As a result when Apollo saw Daphne quickly fell in love with her he is so fell in love that he thinks that they must be married. However Daphne thinks very different she always aims that she wants to live virgin forever. Her kids will be flowers and trees. So this conflict between Apollo and Daphne will not end in a happy way. Later on the myth Apollo try to chase Daphne in woods, luckily Daphne escapes but Apollo begins Daphne to stop and give herself to himself also he told that he is not a bad guy as she thought but Daphne shows no interest about what he said.
