Climate Change

Climate change is a changing in earth’s weather elements for a long period of time. These weather elements are air temperature, humidity, wind intensity, cloud formation and some others. Climate change is something natural, it happens several times in the past. But recently, scientists discovered that drastic changes in climate these days, was caused by human activities. The changes seen today may affect the stability of the climate on which much life on the planet depends.

How it happens? Climate change caused by the temperature increase in the atmosphere, the air is getting warmer. This temperature increase also called Global Warming. Global Warming itself caused by the carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane and other greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases build up in the atmosphere, trap the sun’s heat in the atmosphere and raise the air temperature. The temperature increase, rapidly and effectively affect the climate machine. More heat vaporized more water to the cloud, containing more water to drop, and creating heavy rains. More heat also melting the earth’s icecaps, increasing the amount of liquid water in the oceans, and automatically raise the sea level.

In effect, there might be severe drought in a usually rainy area, and there might be thunderstorm and heavy rain in a usually dry area. High wind intensity, severe heat waves, flood caused by torrential rain or sea level increase, also occur as results of this climatic error. There are some others weather anomalies occurred in some places unexpected.

Humans are the suspect for most of the changes in climate recently. Since the Industrial Revolution, humans emitted a large number of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, without knowing the impact on the environment. Usage of steam engines, coal or oil powered power plants, any kind of fossil fuel consuming transportation systems, and many other things. These improvements meet humans’ essential needs, but also damaged the environment....
