Compare And Contrast Hinduism and Judaism

There are many different religions and believes in this world. In this Paper I will be comparing and contrasting two major religions, Hinduism and Judaism. These two religions are well known and have some interesting similarities and differences. Hinduism is particularly practiced in India and Nepal. Hinduism is made up by numerous believes, traditions, laws and karma, dharma and social norms. Judaism derived from the Greek and is a religion and philosophy, and a way of life.

Before comparing and contrasting I will give a short summary and explanation of each one of the two religions, starting with Judaism. The Jewish religion is spread out over the entire globe. It is a well know religion and has about 15 Million followers and is the World's eleventh largest religion. The Jewish Prayer Book is the basis of Jewish worship. The three great themes that make up the Jewish religion are creation, revelation, and redemption. The holiest object in Judaism is a scroll of the Law, which is called the Torah. Next to the temple, the synagogue is also important as a meeting place, a focus for prayer and a house of study. The central religious belief of Judaism is that there is only one God. Monotheism was uncommon at the time Judaism was born, but according to Jewish tradition, God himself revealed it to Abraham, the ancestor of the Jewish people. How individual Jews choose to understand this manifestation of the divine varies. Some connect with God through prayer, others see the divine in the majesty of the natural world, others may not think about God on a daily basis. Each individual's relationship with God is unique and personal. Judaism teaches that every person was created in the image of God, For this reason every person is equally important and has an infinite potential to do good in the world.
