Court History and Purpose

Courts have different type of roles they have to abide by in the criminal justice system. For example, we have state and federal courts. These courts have a primary purpose which are to punish crimes, investigate and prosecute. Federal and state systems also abide by two code guides where what establishes crimes in jurisdictions, this is called criminal law. The second code would be if that a criminal offender is processed for a crime then sentenced and convicted with a punishment. This code is called criminal procedure code.

Prosecution

In the criminal justice system an individual who violates state or federal laws will be prosecuted and even goes for the county and city levels as well. While individuals who are prosecuted the United States provides the essential rights which accumulate to a defendant in the justice system. The type of rights it includes is the right to have a trial before a jury. Prosecution stages can be a number of steps for example a settlement, dismissal, and being found guilty after a trial.

Punishment

Yes indeed criminals in the justice system have to be punished if convicted. Punishment for the individuals if convicted include fines and or penalties, probation period, and incarceration. Criminal offenders who are punished the system provides certain programs that rehabilitate the criminal offenders. These programs are to prevent lapse when if at all possible.

Time Frame

The last role of the system plays is the time frame. Time frame has various types but an example of one is the Statue of Limitations. Statue of Limitations in criminal case has to be filed after crime itself. If there were a kidnapping or murder case then there would be no deadline for filing. Another example of time is constitutional right which statutes in various jurisdictions and is a speedy trial. An average time frame is six months from the date of charge. The...
