Believe it or not, race still continues to be a controversial issue all over the world. It has not only affected America but it has also affected many other countries and still continues to do so. Many people believe that the Civil Rights Movement was when many individuals were greatly influenced segregating towards different races. Race is defined as a group of people who have differences and similarities in biological traits, and today the society defines what is socially accepted or not. Unfortunately a difference in skin color is an example of a specific socially accepted trait. There are many different groups of people and within these groups could be a unit of one race or an integrated group filled with many diverse races of people. In our society today there are also many types of racial categories or stereotypes. Stereotypes are frequently made towards different groups or races. For example, many people believe that all Asians are smart and all black people love chicken. The list of stereotypes could go on forever. There are numerous terms that could be used in relation to race including racism, pluralism, segregation, and ethnicity.

Throughout the Civil Rights Movement, the attempt to make things equal for African American people and white people were an ongoing issue. The change did not happen right away, and even today it still remains to be an issue. Although African Americans were not allowed to be slaves anymore, the white people would not accept that and still continued to racially profile blacks. African Americans were forced to use separate bathrooms and water fountains than the whites, and also were not allowed in certain stores. White people did not accept the blacks because they felt as though they were much “different” from them. Throughout the years, the hatred between the blacks and the whites did start to diminish.
