In life there are monsters. In our thoughts there are monsters. Everywhere we go; everywhere we look, there are monsters. Monsters are real, fantasy, as well as human nature. You may not know it, but we all have a monster that lives inside of us. Throughout history and throughout our lives we see these monsters and the impact that they have on the world.

No matter where you look, no matter where you go, there is a monster. Monsters can represent all the evil in the world as well as in some literature. For example, in the book “The Boy Called It” the monster was his abusive mother. The book takes place in California with a boy by the name of Dave who was severely abused by his mother who was a bit of an alcoholic. True enough, this actually tells the tale of the author’s real life experiences as a child. Dave was not only beaten, but throughout the text he would be forced to eat his own vomit or swallow Clorox. He lived a horrible childhood while with his mother or as most call it, his monster. The book not only demonstrates fantasy monsters found in literature, but as well as monsters in the real world.

Most people are familiar with the Bernie Madoff investment scam. Madoff’s Ponzi scheme left thousands of people broke or in debt. Now you may ask yourself, “What makes a monster?” In Bernie Madoff’s case greed created his monster and ultimately took control of his life. Bernie Madoff is a monster because his greed led people to believe he was actually doing something good for the American people, but ultimately would hurt the thousands who invested in him. Bernie Madoff was a cruel and evil man that turned into one of the biggest monsters on Wall Street and all of this out of greed.

We have seen monsters in history as well as in everyday literature, but what about monsters that exist in our minds? Anyone can be a monster, just think about it Bernie Madoff wasn’t born a monster, he didn’t plan a Ponzi scheme right out of the womb. Bernie Madoff became that monster...
