Understanding Privacy Issues in Cyberspace
The history of mobile devices dates all the way back to the early 1970s, originating with Motorola being one of the first companies to develop these devices. This mobile technology allowed for communications to become more reliable and robust, enabling wireless communications to phone lines and other mobile devices. Additionally, it did not restrict individuals to a single location such as landlines, allowing phone calls to be placed anywhere stimulating mobility and flexibility. The development of this new mobile technology made it a must have device and users across the United States were willing to pay top dollar in order to get their hands on this handheld technology, so they could have the flexibility and movability.
Currently, newly developed Smartphone devices are capable of extremely fast web services (4G & 3G services); application downloads, streaming media, document viewers, and email. In this writer’s opinion, mobile device is capable of completing just about any task a laptop can perform. This allows users the flexibility of using smartphone's majority of the time instead of a laptop. Moreover, smartphones offer the convenience of retrieving documents at the push of a button in lighting speeds and it has also streamed lined the process of video teleconferencing by using APPS such as using Tango, Face Time, and Skype. More importantly with social media demands, it connects billions of people together through the use of mobile APPs such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
