Work Group Scenarios

It 240 Week 6

August 25, 2013

My Microsoft Windows 2000-based office network has three different domains: ALPHA, BETA, and OMEGA. All three of these are located in the same Directory tree and different account access needs to be granted to these domains.

First, I need to input the three different domains on the server. After the ALPHA, BETA, and OMEGA domains names have been set, the next step is setting application permissions for the User Accounts. Users in the OMEGA domain however will not have access to the ALPHA domain. These will be created in the Active Directory Users and Computers. These folders will be used to organize the user accounts, or these separate work groups, and grant access to these particular work groups.

The next step will be deciding the group scope.

The users in the ALPHA group will also be added a to Domain local scope in the OMEGA domain so permissions can be added to those accounts to have access to some OMEGA resources. APLHA, BETA, and OMEGA will be set up as Global group’s scopes, but only those users from ALPHA will have access to resources outside of their own domain, the other two domains will have access only to their specific domain.

After each group is created,...
