Child care is a significant issue in all families, and there is a heated controversy on the best method of handling it. In this modern society, there is a growing tendency for parents to send their children earlier to nurseries and kindergartens, even at children’s age of 2 or 3. Consequently, mothers can be freed from daily child-care and chase their own careers. People from different backgrounds, however, hold different viewpoints to this matter in question.

Some people insist that children should be sent to nurseries earlier mainly for three reasons. First of all, well-trained professionals can offer children comprehensive schooling in systematic, scientific and rudimentary knowledge fields. Secondly, psychologically speaking, children require more opportunities to communicate with his/her peers. Establishing nurseries and kindergartens is to instruct children’s courage, honesty, cooperation, discipline, friendliness such good manners and as well as their mental construct. Last but not least, sending children earlier to nurseries and kindergartens enables mothers dedicated to their careers. As a result, successful careers are more likely possible, which is of much benefit to the whole family.

Admittedly, sending children earlier to nursery schools has its appropriate merits. Nevertheless, people hardly reach an absolute consensus on such a debatable issue. The opponents criticize that sending children earlier to nursery schools has its demerits. On one hand, with mothers’ upbringing children at home, children will be better cared and given more attention. By contrast, lack of emotional communication is responsible for worsening relationships between parents and children. On the other hand, in nursery schools, too many children in one class may result in inadequate care and attention. Additionally, the exemption of attending nurseries and kindergartens also retrenches the overall expenditure of the whole family.
