When I was a young boy, I watched a “Love Boat” episode with my mom around Halloween time. And it scared me so much as it also caught my interest. I thought to myself, how can a person in bandages that’s been dead for thousands of years come back to life to hurt people? There wasn’t even a question of which museum I would choose when this assignment was given to us. The Egyptian Nation Museum in Cairo, Egypt. When the doors were open in 1835, the location was near Ezbekeya Garden. Twenty years later, it was declared too small of a building to house all of the antiquities. So a new building was being constructed in a different location to help hold its current and future artifact finds. While the new museum was being built along the Nile River close to the bank of Boulaq. The Arch Duke Maximillion of Austria was in possession of all the museum items while a French Architect designed and constructed a new building for the museum. The new museum reopened in 1858. My first impression of the assignment of going to a Virtual Museum was that I would be able to direct a camera through a museum that looked as though I was walking through it and looking around. To my surprise, the museum was basically just pictures of the artifacts and a map of the location. All of their pictures were high quality and very detailed, making this a website that I have to give credit to rather than degrade them for not having that 3D “Google Maps” style that I was thinking of. They have over 120,000 items at the museum. Most are on display. To say the least, I was impressed with the website. It was easy to navigate the site and find items that were interesting. It even has numerous links to sites that had more information on that certain item you need to know more about. My favorite area of the website was the King Tut display area. With Gold in almost every picture and most being burial items for the pharos. I was able to...
