We are writing to enlist your support in a major pedagogical shift we would like to achieve at

in the MBA programs. The primary goal in our new approach is to move the program from a focus on “What you Know” to a focus on “Who you Are” and “How you Think”. This is because we firmly believe that the latter determine “What you Do” and how our alumni will make a positive impact on global business management in the future.

Accordingly, we would like to move towards a learning culture whereby Class Participation (CP) becomes second nature to the MBA adult student. Case studies ideally teach students how to think and also provide more real life and interesting scenarios to consider. CP requires a student to come prepared, listen and contribute to class discussions in a professional and effective way. It focuses on his abilities to analyze, think of multiple innovative solutions, challenge, articulate and take decisions in a simulated environment.

This, we believe can best be accomplished through a clear and positive commitment across all academic disciplines and is the joint responsibility of a faculty and a student. The key of course is to reward CP for qualitative contributions and to penalize ‘airtime”. This can be effectively done through a systematic process deployed by our team and will be shared with you.

A second major influence has been a ‘review’ of all courses with a view to make them more contemporary and comprehensive thereby eliminating overlaps with other courses, and fulfilling international industry requirements. Accordingly, we have researched and proposed modifications to almost all subjects in terms of suggesting Case Studies and up-to-date or foundational Academic Journal Articles that are highly recommended readings and assignments for all subjects.
