Make Solutions, Not excuses.

How will your guiding statement help if you have a disagreement with your supervisor at work?

If I have a disagreement with my manager at work I do believe that it happened for a reason. The best thing I could do would be to find the source of the problem, find the best way to solve it and work to avoid it again in the future. It’s my supervisor/managers job to manage and oversee everyone’s work and to take note on their productivity. If they are advising me of some sort of wrong doing it’s not because of any personal vendetta but because they feel it can be detrimental to overall productivity of our department. Finding a solution to the issue would be much better than finding an excuse to cover me as to why it had occurred in the first place.

How will your guiding statement help if your class paper or project receives a failing grade from your professor?

In the case that I receive a failing grade on a class paper or project I believe that my guiding statement would let me know I received that grade because I deserved it. If I did not understand the assignment I could have asked for assistance from the professor. I won’t use the excuse that I didn’t understand the assignment to earn another chance in bringing up my grade. I could after receiving the failing the grade contact my professor and ask them to please advise as to why I received the low score, also if I could possibly re do the assignment or find a way to make up credit for the assignment. Instead of accepting the low grade, I could work to try and make it better.

How will your guiding statement help if you are having a disagreement with someone for whom you care deeply?
