Introduction

Rice is the worlds economically and culturally most important food crop and its production are regarded as the single most important economic activity on the world. Our group interviewed the owner of a JTB Rice and Corn Mill Business and inquires regarding the History of the business, Cycle of production and its Organizational structure.

JTB Rice and Corn Mill sells not only Rice and Corn, they also sell Rice and Corn Bran which they offer to their customer around CarCanMadCarLAN areas and parts of main land of Surigao del Norte.

History

JTB Rice and Corn Mill was previously named as Warthur Rice and Corn Mill which was built on the year 1972 named after the owners nickname who is Antonio D. Borda Jr. It was changed to JTB Rice and Corn Mill when the owner turned 60 years old on 2002. JTB stands for Junie Tupas Borda who is the son of Antonio D. Borda Jr.

In 1972, they built 2 Millers, one for the corn and the other is for rice. In 1980 they added another rice miller which was a bigger one to accommodate the needs of the customers. Until today these rice mills are still functioning and continue to operate.

Cycle of Production

1. Acquire palay and corn from farmers after they harvest.

2. Dry the palay and corn obtained from farmers either by solar drying or mechanical drying.

3. Mill the dried palay and Corn and turn it into rice.

4. Sack the rice according to customers’ preference.

5. Sack the Rice and Corn Bran

5. Deliver the rice and the rice and Corn bran to the customers to specific areas.
