INTRODUCTION

A portal is a site on the Internet that provides a one-stop experience for internet users, allowing them to check e-mail, search the Web, and get personalized news and stock quotes. Since 1998, the “portal” has been considered the most successful Internet business model. Portal sites have characteristics such as community facilitated by services, revenue that relies on advertising, a highly competitive market, heavy traffic, and an uncertain business (Park, 2000).

Technologies in present times have an enormous impact in our lives. A lot of organizations and institutions are now using computers for information processing. The used of computerized system improves the accuracy and speed of operations. It helps a lot in a way that it makes work more progressive and productive. Also technology has a systematic and organized way of keeping data records, computing numbers, accomplishing a lot of transactions and reports.

The Carmona Multi-Purpose Cooperative is an autonomous association of people, united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically-controlled enterprise.

The Carmona Multi-Purpose Cooperative started on Aug 25, 1999 wherein it composed only of 14 officers, 2 employee and 20 cooperators.

As they started the said association, in order to have a capital, the members including the officers and the cooperators give one thousand pesos each, aside from that the municipality of Carmona Cavite gave thirty thousand pesos as a pledge.

The researchers developed a Web Portal with SMS Notification System. The system would help the management teams and members to access a web portal for the following: general information, schedule of events and seminars, general information about CMPC and request of online transaction for their accounts. With the help of the system, the members are able to get the information they need.
