Chapter 2

Leader’s Self Insight

Dr. Harrell

After reviewing the data from the exercises I have summarize that based on my results throughout all the exercises my leadership skills are where they need to be. My high optimism rating and self-confidence which is talked about in part one of chapter two builds right on to the leadership orientation and my Lmx relationship. I have the optimism to more so focus on the positive sides of things rather than the negative issues. Being optimistic will show those around me that there is a positive side to everything in life thus my department will take on this same mindset. Knowing my strengths as a leader is key tool as well you must know what are your strength and weakness in yourself so that you can figure out how to make yourself better so that you can be better for your organization and a better leader for those who look up to you. The most important concept out of this chapter is Lmx, this the relationship between leaders and members which is the root for success.

Leaders and members need to be able to talk to each other fluently so that everyone is on the same page. You deal with people each and every day multiple personalities, different minds and people from different parts of the world. So it important to have that necessary skill of being able to have a good communication line among leaders and members. Along with having the means of knowing how important it is to have strong confidence within yourself as a leader you are the go to person when it comes to getting things done you have to have a level head and keep calm under pressure in order to deal with the pressures of being a leader.

The exercises correlate to the information being discussed in the chapter, it talks about being a leader working with different people and dealing with communication barriers that take place in the work area and being able to adapt to those mishaps. How being a leader is more than just...
