1. The UWP mission statement (line 7) was to prevent eruption of further violence as they had sent troops to maintain order, peace and security. This lead to competitive advantages as it benefits the local business community, which allowed the troops to spend significant proportion of their pay in the local economy. The local business in Beral was able to resume their trade activities to the same level as before the civil war.

2. When businesses are attempting to follow a path that is morally correct, it can be said that they are becoming a more ethical company. In order to reach this point as a business, they must set ethical objectives. Ethical objectives are generally classified as anything the business conducts to be considered morally correct in the eyes of their consumers. Typically, non-profit organizations mainly focus on setting ethical objectives rather than those that focus on generating cash for the business due to the fact that non-profits aim to benefit the community rather than simply grow.

In this specific scenario, UWP has the main purpose of benefiting the people of Loyka; and as a non-profit setting ethical objectives could be very helpful to the business as a whole. The main competitive edge that would be granted is that they would have an enhanced corporate image in Loyka. This is very important in this situation in particular due to the fact that the UWP has caused conflict in Loyka in the past (as stated in line 20) and as a result doesn’t have a very good image in the first place. The other primary benefit would be that the staff would have increased motivation to help the people of Loyka. Considering the fact that they have been there for years and have lost motivation, they are likely to greatly increase efficiency if they feel the force of moral obligations.
