In this paper we will create both strategic and operational plans based on the SWOT analysis of Microsoft, conducted in the first part of this work. In this work, we will define SWOT analysis, Strategic and Operational plans, we are going to explain how these plans will help to achieve the related goals and will include information on how the decisions taken will affect both internal and external stakeholders identified previously. We will be including citations and references used as sources of information.
Now we are going to start defining SWOT analysis. The SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) is an evaluation technique designed by Albert Humphrey during the 60s and 70s in the United States. This technique is applicable in different fields both personally and in the business realm, helps us locate the competitive advantages of the company, allows us to analyze our strengths and address the weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the market and the environment. The SWOT analysis evaluates the situation of the company and helps in creating strategies for developing it and obtaining the success (Goodrich, 2014). The analysis is divided into internal (strengths and weaknesses) and external (opportunities and threats).
As mentioned above, within the internal analysis are the strengths and weaknesses of the company. The strengths are the capabilities and potential that the company possesses and that are extremely beneficial to your progress and positioning within the market. The weaknesses are the situations that prevent the company take the most of their opportunities and to be successful they must be eliminated at all costs.
