It doesn't feel any safer on this side of the pond.

I stopped taking public transit after being followed off a bus and being hassled by three teens for money.

I'd had all sorts of other things before but that sliced it for me.

Go green is great but you have to be able to survive it.

where were the british rail (or whoever) staff?

there seems to be a real thuggish mentality amongst some youth and they are just bullies acting in a mob

i daresay we will find out about the problems they have had in their pasts that make them behave like wild things

as for travelling on trains? the last time i travelled on a teain in the UK it was disgusting - filthy filthy filthy

(virgin from watford to birmingham) and that was in 2003

i would rather use my car .....i'd feel safer, cleaner and i'd hopefully not get too many delays (apart from traffic jams) .....sorry

Hi CT,

To be honest I don't feel safe on any public transport, not any more and if I can't walk, I drive. I feel safe in my own car and would prefer to take my chances with the road. It certainly doesn't instill any hope for using public transport, does it???

I would like to ride public transportation more. But It seems like every time I go to a bus stop, or train station, someone always starts asking me for money. And if you say no, they start acting mad. A couple of weeks ago here in Dallas, a lady was waiting at a bus stop. A man robbed her of her money and wedding ring. When he was done he told her to kneel down. When she did he poured gasoline on her, and lit her on fire. She survived but was burned very bad. Stories like this make me shy away from public transport. It's a shame. I would like to help the environment, but if I don't feel safe, I'll keep driving my car.

Are we safe to travel on public transport.
