Dear Mr. Ted Smith and Mrs. Cora Smith

My name is Mincheol Jung a high school student at Mountlake Terrace and I will explain in this letter why your child shouldn’t watch certain media. I am concerned that your child might get influenced by the media. The media has many inappropriate contents that can influence your child to do weird or not safe activity. For example the media can teach your kid/s to do something precarious that they saw in a cartoon like Spongebob. The media can also cause kids to become violent in fact when I was 7 years old my friends and I pretended to fight which was Star Wars related. It’s been proven that kids want to smoke because the media shows “cool people” smoking which makes your child think that smoking is cool.

Do you want to be a bad parent and let your child become what I told you about above? Of course not!!! Here are some tips for you to have your child to be less influenced in an abysmal way by the media. I suggest you to spend more time with your child and try not to do that have to do with a TV such as sports (if possible). This would also allow you to spend time with your child while you help them watch less TV. The other alternative is you can restrict them from watching inappropriate shows or movies by putting on parental control on your DVD player, game console, TV, and internet.

Sincerely yours,

Mincheol Jung
