1)In 2012,46 percent of Americans owned a Smartphone; search the web for the most up-to-date statistics on this technology?

In 2013 144.5 million people in the US used the Smartphone a number which has risen from a total of 122 million in 2012. It is projected that this number will further continue to rise and the total of US Smartphone users will reach 163.9 million by the end 2014. Of the total mobile phone users in 2012 50.1% were Smartphone users. For 2012 the percentage increased to 56.8% and it is expected that by the end of 2014 this will reach 63.8%.

2)As a team, Interpret the changes in numbers. What is string/important about these findings?

Smartphone users increased by 30.2 million from 2010 to 2011 and for 2011 to 2012 Smartphone users increased by 29.2 million. From 2012 to 2013 the Smartphone users have increased by 22.5 million and it is expected that by 2014 they will increase by another 19.4 million. Corresponding to the increase in the Smartphone users the number of Smartphone users as a percentage of total mobile users has in most cases been on the decline.

It can be understood from these numbers that there is a continual decline in the growth of the Smartphone users. This could be because of the fact that the majority of people who would like to own a Smartphone have already purchased them and the rest of the people are those who are hesitant about using Smartphone. However, it can also be seen that the decline in the numbers is not enough to conclude that Smartphone users will not continue to grow for the foreseeable future.
