Manganese has no satisfactory substitute in its major applications, which are related to metallurgical alloy use. Global seaborne trade is estimated in 26 Million tons per year and growing. This project contains ~10 million metric tons of potential manganese resources (1.5Mtons proven reserves). Detailed geological, mining engineering, metallurgical and economic studies must be completed before full profit can be made from the project, however the mine is currently in operation and production can easily be increased with working capital.

Manganese and its Markets

Manganese is the twelfth most abundant metal on The Earth, and the fourth most consumed metal by weight. Nowadays, approximately 90% of it is used to make steel; it is also used to harden alloys, and for its capacity to prevent oxidation. The remaining 10% goes to manufacturing dry cells, aluminum alloys, and varied chemical applications. Two decades ago, the government of the United States of America again defined manganese as a strategic metal; it is indispensable for modern life, due to its multiple civil and military applications. Recently, Hitachi Ltd. developed a...
