Introduction

An Electronic Health Record (EHR) is an electronic version of a patient’s medical history, that is maintained by the provider, and include all of the important administrative clinical data relevant to a patient’s care under a their provider, including demographics, progress notes, medical problems, a list of current and past medications, vital signs, past medical history, current medical history, immunizations, laboratory data and radiology reports The EHR automates access to these information and has the potential to make the clinician's workflow smoother. The EHR also has the ability to support other care-related activities directly or indirectly through various interfaces, including evidence-based decision support, quality management, and outcomes reporting.

In the United States, there are hundreds of EHR vendors, but most of them are small start-ups serving isolated portions of customers. There are six major vendors in the EHR field. Greenway Medical Technologies is the smallest in terms of revenue and employees and one of only two privately owned companies. Greenway is an example of an EHR software that provides the mentioned clinical information. It is a rapidly moving electronic health record (EHR) of patient information into the next phase of data liquidity, leveraging fluid, accessible patient information to drive dramatic improvements in clinical, financial and administrative outcomes and prepare for new value-based reimbursement models.
