SR-rm-022 Part 1

Riordan Manufacturing has a human resource system that was designed over 20 years ago. The hardware and software of the current system in need of updating, as well as the workflow that is used by employees to enter user data. Service request SR-rm-022 is a request to redesign the current Human Resources system, into a standalone system. The new system will integrate all human resource programs into a single application, allowing all programs to work together.

Initial Evaluation

There are seven human resources systems that are being utilized currently. This include employee relations, open positions and applications, worker’s compensation, performance and attendance, compensation, training and development records and employee information. These programs are currently separated, and do not speak with each other. In order to design a new cohesive system, we will have to evaluate each system and see how they can integrate and work together. Currently each system in used by separate personnel and each section needs to be assessed by speaking with current users and incorporate feedback into the new system. This is required to see what works efficiently, what can be added and what can be improved for the new system. The current hardware will need to be evaluated as well, to find what needs to be upgraded to handle a new application. The correct hardware can speed up the workflow substantially, and save time and money. Hands on use of system of design team should also be utilized to find what can be improved. By using both feedback from users, and hands on use, required statistics for analysis should be obtained.
