1. What is the difference between application software and operation system software? What role does each play?

The difference between application software and operating system are, operating system is the system that manages computer hardware and software, also provide a services for computer application or program. This operating system is the important component of the system software in the computer. Without this operating system, people cannot run or operate the application in the computer. Example of the operating system is IOS, OS X, Microsoft Windows, and Android etc. While Application software is a set of one or more program in the computer to operate or run for the specific application. This application software can’t operate by itself but is dependent on system software to execute. Example of the application software is Microsoft word, Microsoft excels, a console game, A management system etc. Which in the other words, the operating system is the system that manage or operate the application software in the computer. So, both of this system and software is interconnected.

2. What is a DBMS? How does it work? What benefits does it provide?

Data Base Management System is a program that enables people to store/storing, organizing, modify, and extract information from the database, which also designed to manage a database.

This DBMS program work begin with the application process by obtaining data from a data base with help from DML (data manipulation language) commands, which is the command that DBMS used for operate the functions. Then, when the regulator and controller CPU activity on the computer meet the execution of DML commands in an application program, then the unit of control move the control from program to DBMS.
