The environmental issue I have chosen to write about comes from water resources. The topic is water pollution. Water pollution not only affects humans, but also plant and animal life. Water pollution is an addition of harmful chemicals to natural water. Sources of water pollution in the United States include industrial waste, run-off from fields treated with chemical fertilizers, and run-off from areas that have been mined (Dictionary.com). This is an ever growing problem in the United States and other countries.

There are two main sources of water pollution, and they are point source pollution and nonpoint source pollution. Point source pollution is when pollutants are expelled into the environment from a specific area. This can include sewers and pipes from places such as factories. Nonpoint source pollution is when pollutants come from a larger area and cannot be pinpointed to a certain area. This can include agricultural runoffs or municipal waste.

We need to teach our children the effects of what we have done to the earth in order for them to not make the same mistakes. The whole...
