EHT4 Task 2 Part D Essay

In my experience writing this lesson plan and collaborating with my host teacher to make improvements was a very important step in finalizing my lesson plan. It is important to effectively collaborate with colleagues to support student development, learning, and well being because teachers are able to communicate knowledge and ideas to create a more beneficial learning environment for students. By having teachers working collaboratively together keeps everyone on the same page and allows for a better understanding of student needs in the classroom. This technique helps everyone involved stay on track and keep student learning, development and well being the number one priority.

There were several insights I gained from the observed video regarding collaborative planning. The first insight I gained was seeing how communication between teachers is highly effective in creating lesson plans. The two teachers in the video were communicating with one another and sharing ideas to help establish an appropriate lesson unit that not only tied in a similar theme, but utilized several standards as well. Another insight I gathered from the video was how the teachers combined ideas to figure out which elements of the lesson plan would align directly with the standards. Each teacher was able to pin point several elements of the lesson that would directly correlate with the unit of study. The teachers were learning from one another and in turn creating a solid lesson plan that covered many standards. This method of collaborative teaching proved to be a very effective strategy in the video.

When it was time to sit down with my host teacher to go over the lesson plan I set up a date and time for us to meet. The teacher and I arranged to meet when the students were in P.E class.
