Opening Statement

Your Honor, members of the jury, my name is Nuha and I am representing the Defense team. The case is as follows: Mrs. Order, The principle of Split Down Middle School has denied the chance for the mock trial team to perform their mock trial case in front of the whole school. The mock trials team wants to perform an incident that happened earlier that year. the incident involved a painting of jesus showed as a “myth”. The painting was painted with Mr. Faren Square and his talented students when they were learning about “myths and legends”. It has offended many students and as a result the student protested by not going to any of the classes in the hallway the picture was in. This disrupted the schools educational process and they can not afford any more missed classes. So the school decided to cover the painting. Mrs. Order didn’t allow the mock trial team to perform their case on this incident because The students who felt offended by the picture would have been equally offended by the mock trial. Mrs. Order also told the team that they could still perform a mock trial as long as it was a different topic but they refused. Mr. Faren Square only wanted his students to put on this mock trial to get back at Mrs. Order for covering the mural. Holly waters and her friends were some of the students who protested against the painting being hung up in the school hallways. They were all very disturbed and shocked that the school put up a painting like that. Letting the mock trial tem hold a mock trial on this incident would be unfair and it will only cause more trouble. Please find Mrs. Lauren Order as not guilty.
