All the countries throughout the world are classified into two groups, developed or developing. Whether a country is considered developed or developing has to do with multiple different factors including population growth, median age, literacy rate, and so on (Mangum). Even though some people may consider Malaysia as borderline between developed and developing, it is a developed country; moreover, Malaysia is considered a developed country because of its high life expectancy, high literacy rate, and the majority of its labor force consisting of service and industry.

High life expectancy is one of the many factors that make Malaysia a developed country. Average people in Malaysia live up to seventy-four years of age (“Malaysia”); moreover, the people in Malaysia are exposed to advanced medication and experienced doctors. Also throughout Malaysia, the people are able to afford a somewhat nutritious diet enabling them to stay healthy. Lastly, most of the jobs that the people occupy do not consist of manual labor and are not strenuous on the body allowing people to remain in better condition (Mangum). In other words, the Malaysian people are alive for quite some time because of their access to health care/medication, healthy food, and jobs that lack manual labor.

The high literacy rate in Malaysia is also another factor that makes Malaysia developed. Within Malaysia, about ninety-three percent of the population are literate or can read and write (“Malaysia”); therefore, most people have a pretty good education where they are taught how to read and write and more intensive subjects. The education in Malaysia is quite basic, but good; furthermore, the students are taught twelve to thirteen years of fundamentals allowing them to get jobs in the service and industry field (“Malaysia”).
