--Id uses pleasure principle and satisfy basic drives for now.It consists of various primitive desires and instincts.The exam is difficult, and I want to get high marks.so I stay up late for revewing the exam.

Ego uses reality principle and considers constraints of real world while satisfying id. It likes a Decision-maker.I feel nervous for knowing the exam is difficult. But I know too much nervous is not good for taking the exam. So I calm down and force me to be relax to review.

Super-ego uses morality principle.It’s a part of the unconscious mind that acts as a conscience.I can’t remember the answer for the reviewing questions,even though I had studied.Nobody will find that If I take notes to the test place seceretly. But I know it’s cheating and it’s unfair for the other students.Thus I stop it and spend more time to remember the answers.Finally I get all of the answers.

Defense Mechanisms:

1.Repression镇压Buy threatening content in unconscious.Example: A girl was date-raped. A friend was present and aware of the assault but unable to stop it. When she is questioned about the incident,she says she doesn’t remember anything about it.

2.Projection规划Attribute unacceptable impulse to someone else.Example:A boy is cheating on his girlfriend.Instead of admitting it,he try to find the evidence that his girlfriend is being unfaithful to him.

3.Displacement冲动位移Divert impulse from real target to a safe substitute. Example:After a fight with her husband, she finds herself yelling at her children.

4.Reaction formation反应形成Bury forbidden impulse and experience/display the opposite. Example:A girl became a single parent when she was young. And she feels resentful about her responsibilities toward her child, but she is overly affectionate and loving towards her child.

5.Rationalization合理化Offer plausible explanation for unacceptable behaviour. Example:Some one didn’t study for the test, but he says that his low test grade is for the test questions were unfair....
