Through his experiences in the ‘dark Sydney’ Andrew comes to realise the errors in his passive ways and as a result begins to change from ‘Inertia-Man’ to a more assertive and influential member of society. Andrew’s actions at the end of the book, attempting to kill his best mate Josh, ( PUT 2 MORE EXAMPLES THAT YOU ARE GOING TO USE AS BODY PARAGRAPHS HERE ) portray this dramatic personality change and how he vows to become a better person by “really choosing the things [he does]”

When Andrew attempts to kill his best mate Josh in order to stop him from taking the lives of many innocent people, it shows his change in personality by displaying how his is now able to willingly stand up against Josh instead of mindlessly following. After coming to the realisation of the way the 2 worlds are linked, Andrew decides he has to kill his best mate Josh in order to stop him leading a bloody, gruesome take-over of Inner Station, a group of people that enforce ‘the curfew’. Through his actions in this part of the novel, Andrew discovers his inner strength and his determination to help others by doing what is best for everyone even if it means a personal loss. This increase of Andrew’s inner strength is shown through the comparison of his behaviour in the previous parts of the novel. This was noticed especially when, after witnessing Josh’s doppelganger brutally bash an innocent passer-by, instead of opposing Josh’s immoral actions, Andrew decides to be a passive bystander almost without thinking because standing up to Josh “would have taken too much guts. And sticking to Josh was hard-wired into [him].” Whereas later in the novel Andrew realises that, “Josh was going to kil [thousands] unless [he] did something about it. And [he] had to do it all on his own.” Consequently, Andrew decides he must kill Josh before he gets the chance to destroy Inner Station and the lives of many innocent people from both worlds, sacrificing “one for one hundred”.
