A Story Yet to be Told

Naawan is a little town along the Cagayan de Oro-Iligan City Corridor on the western part of Misamis Oriental. It’s so small with only 8,808 hectares land area and a population of 18,895 in 2010 but with 70% of households burdened by the difficulty of providing family needs with their P4, 000.00 monthly income.

Though life has been difficult for most of the town’s people but the Local Government Unit of Naawan refuses to accept that poverty is the truth in most of her people’s lives. Thus, lies in it her courage and strength to fulfill her mandate of promoting her people’s welfare by taking every opportunity of undertaking any activity, program, or project that shall develop wealth for her people as it strengthened her capacity to be of great service to the community. And, with a quenchless will of service to people, the development of the Local Government’s 2 hectare Agriculture Development Center where the LGU Dairy Goat Breeding Station is established and the Naawan Nutria Milk, Glow Soap, Sweet Pastillas, and Goat White Cheese is produced has become an off-shoot.

The development of the town’s OTOP has been hard and difficult for Naawan as a 5th class municipality. Financial resource has been the greatest hindrance of the Local Government Unit of Naawan, starting from the acquisition and development of 2 hectare agriculture development center to the establishment of a dairy goat breeding station and the production of nutria milk, glow soap, Sweet Pastillas, and Goat White Cheese, but an unwavering Local Government will always succeed.

The Local Government Unit of Naawan was able to acquire and develop a 2 hectare prime agriculture area into an agriculture development center which was basically at no cost as it is part of the 4.7 hectares area which was developed into an LGU low cost housing subdivision lot where the sale was more than the acquisition cost of the...
