1- Summaries: The world today consists of different types of national identities or state identities increased from time to time as new states emerge. It was not in the late century that state identities were formed but since the early century of the human civilization; after human have created their own way or concept of living including religious belief, culture, social structure, lifestyle, and education, the concept of state identity was emerged, and it was different from one society to another. On top of that, State identity plays important role in promoting peace, forming patriotism, solving conflicts, and maintaining the state development. As the world become more complex after the WWII, there were plenty of new states created after they got independence, and it led to the creation of new state identities. For instance, one of the new states that got successful in creating its own identity and economic development is Singapore. As we know that Singapore today is a developed country that has just become independent, this is because of the effective government policy that led Singapore become an outstanding country among the others in South East Asia. At first, after becoming an independent state, the government tried to develop the country’s economy that used to depend on Malaysia (Ortmann, 2009). Besides economic development, another important policy that was mainly focused in the 1980s is the creation of state identity. In order to create the state identity, it needs the participation of its own population, and it plays important role as an element to the successful Singaporean identity in the late 20th century.
