The main theme of the book of revelation is that the Lord discloses through Christ what he us going to do in the future. In the first verse of chapter 1, we can see that God gave Christ revelation with the responsibility to give it to us. Jesus Christ is introduced as the head of the church and when he returns he is going to heal the earth, defeat the devil, and finish everything he has started in the Garden of Eden. Besides this, the fundamental message is also that the Lord will create universal peace and cooperation between all people all over the world (instantly after Jesus has returned.) He promises that it is going to be a better world which can never be destroyed in any way. Nevertheless the book also presents us bad news about the future – it tells us about the frightening tools of destruction technology will harm at the end of this age.

The whole meaning is more positive than negative and not terrifying of everybody who serves the Lord. Some people might associate the word “apocalypse” (another word for revelation) with something bad like a great disaster, but the book of revelation says in verse 1:3 and 22:7 that those who read, try to understand, and finally apply its message are going to be happy by doing so.

The main purpose of the book is simply and teaches us in which areas we can apply his message – God wants us to change how and what we live for, how we treat the people around us, how we set our goals and priorities, our fervor to pray, how we kill our personal sins, how we think about loss, and our longing for the return of Jesus Christ. He want us to be holy. In no matter which situation or era in life we should never forget our purpose and what we life for. By praying and seeking for God we can apply all those things successfully in our life. Personally, I think that we, as humans, should make a decision that the message of the book of revelation is as important for us as it was to the time it was written.
