The discussion that will take place within this paper will cover the interaction of the major components of the U.S. healthcare system on (1) Access to Healthcare (physically and financially), (2) Healthcare Expenditure, and (3) Quality of Care. From my standpoint healthcare is killing American business. Healthcare costs have hit many businesses really hard. “The changes in corporate America’s ability to provide healthcare toward the current system have contributed to the emergence of health reform as a political issue. The interests and institutional legacies of the employer based system put severe constraints on the range of possibilities for reform” (Fong, 2004).

There are three factors that considered a comprehensive government solution to the health problem. “The first factor is the evolution of business thinking was assisted by the development of a stratum of policy experts within the firm that consisted of human resource and government relations professionals” (Fuller, 2004). The second factor is facilitating a transformation among business about national health reform was a process of social learning and the third factor is contributing to the evolution of business thinking was the development of networks that brought human resource professionals together to consider issues. Some businesses of America think that the healthcare system does not work, universal access to care should be a top priority of reform and the current system with its public private mix financing and delivery should be continued. If we as a society would take a look at our personal health care and take on the responsibility of being in charge of it then I believe that the system would work better.

Access to health care is closely related to the cost and quality of care. One must keep in mind that just because you have easy access to care does not mean the cost will be higher/lower nor does it...
