Bulimia Nervosa is defined as a psychological disorder, in which patients experience regular bouts of serious overeating, which are always followed by feeling of guilt, which can then lead to extreme reactions such as crash dieting, doing lots of exercise, and purging. (www.mediacalnewstoday.com).

Bulimia Nervosa was discovered by Professor Gerald Russell in the year 1979, when he was serving at the Royal Free Hospital in London. (www.furtherhealth.com) The term Bulimia is derived from the Latin word Boulimia, which translates to extreme hunger (www.furtherhealth.com). When you are bulimic you eat food but when you start feeling like you ate to much you decide that you are going to vomit because you don’t like the feeling of extra weight on yourself. Not all bulimic people just vomit, although that is the most common thing others might do it by just not eating at all, and exercise without anything in their system. By doing that it can cause someone to pass out and end up in the hospital, the last place most people would really want to be.

The book Psychology and You, states Bulimia Nervosa as an eating disorder that involves binging on food and purging by vomiting, or excessive use of laxatives.

People that are always concerned about their body image, and what people think about them are usually the ones who are experiencing this. Others may say, or think that the person who is doing this have issues, which is true, but they can’t help themselves. It is set in stone in their heads that they want to look a certain way, because they don’t like the way they see themselves in the mirror.
