The main reason for this essay is because I did not follow out proper orders and was not at the correct place of duty for accountability. Regardless of my reasons for absence, there is no excuse big enough to not make it on time for formation or at minimum give a call to my chain of command. I want to be an excellent soldier and I want to excel in the military. My first line would call this action laziness, irresponsibility, and un-leadership like qualities that of which have neither the right to stake a claim of existence within nor to continue residing in the army. However, as I may or may not have said before I'd like to stay and continue my journey up the road of leadership. The first step I need to put into action is making sure I am always accounted for which in turn means I am on time for place of duty if not fifteen minutes prior. This is a simple task that is easy and painless to follow through on, and it will be accomplished.

On a separate note the phrase being punctual comes to mind. Its definition is, acting or arriving exactly at the time appointed. Being punctual shows that you are responsible, trustworthy, and can follow directions. Being punctual is a value that the army requires, but also a good personal rule that is a reflection of a person’s character it shows that you have personal integrity and self-discipline. Under the military structure of discipline, there is no margin for error. There are many circumstances and failures that could have severe to little consequences to the problem. Being punctual is a military discipline which has a direct correlation to a soldier’s appearance and combat readiness of a unit and a team. Without discipline we cannot effectively complete our daily tasks that we do and which are given to us. If we cannot complete our daily duties then we are no longer the United States Army.
