Definition of marketing is too elusive and broad in nature. Apart from 4 P’s / 7 P’s the grass root levels of marketing can never be taught under a single roof. One has to sweat hard and tan his skin under the scorching sun in a real ‘MARKET’ to experience its aroma.

The truth is, knowingly or unknowingly we are all embraced with stuffs which are a result of marketing. From routine to customized services we consume, tape recorders to latest gizmos (gadgets)into our pockets, khadis to finest fabrications we wear, pani puri’s to pizzas we munch, etc. Thus marketing is seen ‘everywhere’.

Usually the word marketing is well thought-out as a selling entity, however the converse is not true. It incorporates Branding, CRM, Services, Logistics, Advertising and much more. Every new approach in marketing leads to a new terminology such as Affiliate Marketing, Viral Marketing, Guerilla Marketing, Socio-Cultural Marketing, Internet Marketing, etc. Thus every approach in marketing leads towards a new untouched horizon.

Today most of the businesses function opting Word-of-Mouth or Social Networking as the fastest best means to reach the end customer. However all around there’s tremendous scarcity of TRUST! To illustrate few –

‘’ After UTI, I won’t put my money into a new bank, even if TATAs and BIRLAs are behind it’’

‘’ We don’t believe in Indian Standards, you can get an ISI mark for Rs. 5 lakhs’’

‘’ Even fruits and vegetables are grown artificially by injecting chemicals and colours’’ ………whom do we TRUST?

You want to give the best to your family and you pay more but finally you are cheated from everywhere – Pepsi, Cadbury, Mineral Water, you name it……. However what matters in a long run is consistency in nurturing the firms ‘Core Value System’ and ‘Ethical Practice’.

Global warming is the result of man’s excessive marketing to our globe. ‘Go Green’ with an CSR objective thus has become the new mantra of marketing for most of the big enterprises today....
