The New District Manager

General George Patton said,”Do more than is required of you”, as new district manager for these five new locations in the Midwest, I will do everything within my power to make these locations successful. I will do this with a combination of leadership, discipline, recruitment and placement of the right employee in job they can succeed at. The brand name of Dunkin Donuts will allow for easy transition into these new communities where we will continue the strong tradition of great customer service and excellent product.

Location is the first factor to look at when deciding where to open new stores. Finding a new community for these stores will be the challenge. While looking for the proper location, one must look at three things: who will be our customers, who will be our work force and also what competition is already established in these areas. The good thing is the same people we want as customers will also become the heart and sould of our workforce. For these reason I will open all five of these new locations as close as possible to military bases or in a town with a college in it.

Job Design

The main reason that Dunkin Donuts has been so successful for so long is they hire the right personnel to run their locations. The restaurant manager has to be the first to be hired. He/she will in turn help hire the rest of the staff. The restaurant manager must have the ability to lead and follow. They must be willing to get their hands dirty and get the job done. Managers must also have people skills so they are able to provide the necessary leadership to mentor the young employees. They must also have the ability and knowledge to conduct store inventory and keep the money flow heading in the right direction.
