Human Resource Management Overview

Human Resource Management is just what the words imply, the management of humans as a resource to an organization. Human resource management (HRM) According to "Management Study Guide" (2013) “Is the process of managing people in organizations in a structured and thorough manner. Included in the process is the field of staffing and retention of people, pay, benefits and management, performance management, change management and taking care of exits from the company to round off the activities.”

The management of human resources also involves working with all departments and department managers. For HRM to be effective managers must be involved and have knowledge of the processes within the HR department.

Successful HRM can help organizations achieve goals, improve and increase performance and increase moral. HRM has to have an overview of the complete business to be effective. And there must be an understanding of the process, procedures, products and services of each of each department.

Primary function of human resource management

Human resource management is the dealing with the changing world and how it relates to the workplace. “HRM must have a complete understanding of globalization, technology, workforce diversity, labor shortages, skill changes, and how employees are involved” ((DeCenzo, Robbins, & Verhulst, 2015).

Each business is different, and so are the primary goals of the business. There must be the focus on its human resource management for HRM to be successful. Splitting the workload of HRM is a good way to make sure a business can see that progress is being made and how the structure of HRM directly affects and benefits the business.
